Do Better

It’s been seven days since my last tweet. When I pulled out my soapbox and said that I’m taking a break from social media, I should’ve said Twitter. Twitter is really the only place I post and definitely the only place where I have to defend myself against certain people.

But…WHY?

Why should I have to defend myself? Why can’t a conversation be just that? Why does it have to turn into an argument and me being ultimately told that I’m wrong and I’m a bully?

I’m really not here for the sensitive tears.

If me being one hundred percent real causes you to have a meltdown, attack me, or delete your tweets, I gotta say that your…

white-tears

Yum.

I fight for representation in comics and I will never stop. We have voices; I have a voice and I will continue to use it. No one will stop me from saying that marginalized comic creators deserve to have our voices heard. There are plenty of marginalized creators who are doing the damned thing and I am so proud of them. ALL of them.

Even though this comic book industry is mostly straight white men, marginalized creators are infiltrating the industry and I’m loving every bit of it. We need more. Marginalized creators need to SUPPORT other marginalized creators. Pull out your wallet and pre-order books, because I’m pretty sure that you’d want your books pre-ordered as well. Spread the word to others.

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” – Luke 6:31

We have to do better. I need to do better.

If you’re a so-called “ally”, then you need to stop saddling both sides of the fence and play it safe. BE AN ALLY, not this BS that you call an “ally” and then debate with them about racial issues or whatever you “allies” do.

Since the election, I have lost a numerous amount of respect for people that I looked up to in this industry and it’s truly sad. HOWEVER, as the Bible says:

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” – John 8:32

People will eventually show their true colors, take them at face value. If they say something 10/10 they meant what they said. EFF that apology and EFF that safety pin.

I’m rambling, but I definitely needed to get all of this off my chest. Just do better people, k?

P.S. I’m not coming back to Twitter anytime soon. #SorryNotSorry
