It’s Been A Minute
Is this a safe place?
I sure do hope so, especially since I own this heaux. And the fact that I even said this previous sentence is a problem. Wild that I’m only seeing this shit NOW in 2024 and not the entire thirteen years I’ve been on Twitter. I’ve shared some heartfelt topics — from mourning my stillborn children, being in a sex cult, Dominatrix, a mom, and in the past EIGHT YEARS, a comic writer and now in my latest chapter a screenwriter. On a platform that I do NOT own.
Real shit, I just realized this at 10:04am that it’s been EIGHT YEARS since I embarked on this comics journey, I’m still thinking it’s only been five years. Wild. In reality, these past three years has been such a whirlwind! In December 2020 was when it all started with DC Comics and Harley Quinn, since then my life has changed drastically. You can tell by this blog, I disappeared after winning an award for Bingo Love, four months later. FOUR MONTHS LATER.
So I say all that to hope that y’all forgive me for not updating this site and only using Twitter. No more of that. I’ll only be faithfully updating this site along with my Patreon.com, so if you haven’t subscribed to the email list, be sure to do so.
Now for the cliffsnotes.
After Sun-Spider in September, we have:
Harley Quinn: Legion of Bats dropped in October ’22 and ran through March 2023. In April, I wrote a Harley Quinn: Resilient, a guided journal, for Insight Editions. July of last year I was given the dopest opportunity…
Write a story for MY LITTLE PONY!!!!! Now, I’ve written a slew of IP comics, but, My Little PONY?!?! YoungTee would be losing her mind. I’ve always wanted a pony, but, according to my mother back then, it was the devil. Talking ponies, MUST be evil. So, no MLP and no Cabbage Patch doll either. So when this opportunity presented itself I KNEW I had to go hard in the mofo paint!
And I did! Myself along with the talented Shauna J. Grant , created Violette Rainbow — a pony with vitiligo and dreads. EXPLICITLY a Black pony and everyone loves her as much as we do! If you haven’t read her story, check it out here!
Back in March, I participated in DC Comics Round Robin event where fans would vote for a story by a creative team and whoever won got to have their own series. Unfortunately, due to “unforseen circumstances”, the team and I lost, but as a consolation, we were able to have 5 pages of our story published in the winning teams comic series. That comic, DC HORROR PRESENTS: GHOST TOUR FROM HELL appeared in Superboy: Man of Tomorrow 5 in August. Then in October, I wrote another story for My Little Pony, that takes place in between chapters 4 and 5 of the Netflix My Little Pony: Make Your Mark series.
Professionally, my life was kicking all types of ass, but suddenly halted due to the strikes which meant all the projects I was working on were paused. I got my first “Force Majeure” in May, that August. on Day 100 of the strike I was let go from a film I was writing since I chose not to scab. Talk about a crushing blow, but I also learned that no matter how welcome and how much these companies “love” and claim you’re “perfect” for said gig, it’s just blowing smoke up your ass. Being autistic, I tend to take people at their word and as always, I’m the one that’s crushed.
Lesson learned, won’t happen again. It took me a few to shake that shit off, but when I did BAAAAYYYBEEEE lemme tell you, I hit the ground running — despite not being able to use my legs lol.
AunTee wasn’t gonna let one more bag disappear and I began focusing on creator owned comic series and graphic novels. Keep them peepers peeped for announcements.
What else happened??
Ohhh yeahhhhhh, y’all I’m a whole ass grandmother! Can you believe that shit? I have a grandbaby that I just adore. TeeJr. My genes strong as all get out. I’m in love.
Oh, and…ummm…I almost died in May. Organs were failing, had a stroke, “fun times”, but my organs are doing so much better as is my heart. Gotta take better care of your body and listen to what it’s telling you. I’ll probably write a blogpost about this, but no time soon so don’t hold me to it.
It’s 2024 and for the first time in a minute, I’m excited to see exactly what this year is gonna bring. Judging by the way my inbox has been filling up, it’s gonna be a busy one! Speaking of, I gotta wrap this up, first weekend of the New Year and I gotta work and not watch anime. I’m not too bothered, since those bags are about to get me this Gojo Satoru piece.
As always, thanks so much for supporting me like you do, I’ll catch y’all on Patreon!
